Hans is Doing Well

giftshop project space is pleased to present Hans is Doing Well, a solo exhibition of paintings by Isak Applin. Hans is Doing Well is comprised of paintings of both invented, otherworldly landscapes and everyday, domestic situations. Through the association of genre scene and fantasy, Applin's paintings reconstruct the sentimental, majestic and often bewildering relationship between human beings and their environment.
Isak Applin received his B.F.A from Maine College of Art and an M.F.A. at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since graduating in 2005, Applin has continued to be an active contributor to Chicago's art scene with recent shows at the Contemporary Arts Workshop, G2, and Roots & Culture. He is currently in group shows at The Helm in Tacoma, Washington and at the University of Saint Francis in Joliet, Illinois. Mr. Applin also teaches drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
